Dr. Subodh Chandra Pande is one of India’s most respected Radiation Oncologists, with a distinguished career that spans clinical practice, medical leadership, and teaching.
A pioneer in Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and PET scan-based treatment planning, Dr. Pande’s expertise covers a wide range of cancers, including head and neck, CNS, childhood cancers, and prostate cancer.
After completing his MBBS and Diploma in Medical Radiology from Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad, he earned his MD in Radiotherapy from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in 1977.
His career began at Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai, in 1982, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the Neuro-Oncology and Pediatric Oncology services, significantly advancing cancer care for these patient groups.
In 1997, Dr. Pande joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, where he upgraded stereotactic radiotherapy facilities and developed a modern, patient-centric radiation oncology department.
In 2005, Dr. Pande became the Director of Medical Services at Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Jaipur, leading the commissioning of the first Linear Accelerator in Rajasthan — a milestone in the state’s cancer treatment history.
He later served as Visiting Consultant at MH-Curie Cancer Centre, Shanti Mukund Hospital, Delhi, and Galaxy Cancer Centre, Pushpanjali Crossley Hospital, Ghaziabad.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Pande is deeply committed to academic medicine. He has been a postgraduate teacher in Radiation Oncology for the University of Maharashtra and for the National Board of Examinations (DNB).
With over 33 publications in national and international journals, he continues to contribute significantly to oncology research and education.
