About Dr. Satyakam Baruah

• Dr. Satyakam Baruah is a highly accomplished Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon with more than 15 years of experience.
• He is proficient in a wide spectrum of minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques, including advanced neuroendoscopy and spinal procedures.
• Dr. Baruah’s primary clinical interests include epilepsy surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, precision excision of brain tumors in eloquent regions, functional neurosurgery, neuroendoscopy, and robotics.
• He received his advanced training at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI), Canada, one of the world’s most prestigious centers for epilepsy and brain surgery.
• Prior to this, he completed his neurosurgical residency at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, and began his medical journey with an MBBS from Silchar Medical College, Assam, and an MS in General Surgery from Gauhati Medical College.
• During his fellowship at MNI, Dr. Baruah trained under distinguished mentors Dr. Andrea Olivere and Dr. Jeffrey A. Hall, mastering a range of procedures from traditional open epilepsy surgeries to minimally invasive techniques such as thermocoagulation and Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT).
• Dr. Baruah was an active member of the MNI Robotic StereoEEG team (2018–2019), gaining significant hands-on exposure to cutting-edge techniques including robotic StereoEEG, vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS) for epilepsy management.
• In addition to his clinical expertise, he continues to contribute academically through research and international collaborations, bringing global innovations in neurosurgery to patient care in India.
