About Dr. Rishabh Kumar

• Dr. Rishabh Kumar is an accomplished Radiation Oncologist with over 22 years of experience.
• His areas of expertise include high-precision radiation therapy, brachytherapy for multiple cancers, robotic brachytherapy, radiomics, translational oncology, and hyperthermia treatments.
• He has advanced expertise in precision oncology, combining cutting-edge technologies like SRS, SBRT, brachytherapy, and proton therapy.
• He earned his MBBS degree from the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (affiliated with Pondicherry University) in 2012 and subsequently pursued his MD in Radiation Oncology at the Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences in 2017.
• During this period, Dr. Kumar gained early exposure to stereotactic radiotherapy, radiosurgery, and advanced image-guided radiotherapy techniques.
• In 2017, he further advanced his training through the European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) Fellowship and at ERASMUS MC in the Netherlands, focusing on CyberKnife-based radiosurgery, proton therapy, and hyperthermia.
• Dr. Kumar has held senior residency positions at some of India’s most prestigious institutions, including SGPGI Lucknow (2018), ILBS Delhi (2018–2020), and AIIMS New Delhi (2020–2022).
• At ILBS, he was instrumental in commissioning the stereotactic program in ablative radiotherapy, which led to one of India’s largest published datasets on Liver SBRT for hepatocellular carcinoma.
• His tenure at AIIMS exposed him to complex oncological cases, where he also contributed to low-dose radiation therapy trials for COVID-19.
• Dr. Kumar and his team performed the world’s first robotic liver HDR brachytherapy and published pioneering Indian data on the role of HPV in cervical cancer and telomerase in head and neck cancers.
• His contributions earned him prestigious accolades, including the MC Pant Gold Medal (2016) for best research, the GC Pant Gold Medal (2019), and the Best Young Radiation Oncologist Award (2019) at AROICON.
• With over 30 national and international publications, Dr. Kumar is also actively involved in guideline development, notably contributing to the Breast Brachytherapy Guidelines of the Indian Brachytherapy Society.
