About Dr. Rahul Bhargava

• Dr. Rahul Bhargava is a highly renowned expert in blood cancer, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and blood disorders, with over 22 years of specialized experience in this field.
• He is best known for his pioneering work in stem cell transplants and has performed more than 1500 successful transplants for both adults and children.
• He completed his MBBS in 2001 and MD in General Medicine in 2004 from Barkatulla University, Bhopal.
• He further achieved DM in Clinical Haematology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 2009.
• Dr. Bhargava established India’s first integrated Centre of Excellence for Haematology and Pediatric BMT at FMRI.
• His team is also credited with performing the first haploidentical transplant in Gurgaon at Artemis Hospital between 2013 and 2016.
• He is widely recognized for introducing stem cell transplant as a treatment for multiple sclerosis and systemic sclerosis, marking a significant milestone in Indian medical history.
• In 2016, he became the first Indian doctor to perform and popularize this treatment for multiple sclerosis.
• Dr. Bhargava has also made a significant impact on the community by setting up over 14 low-cost bone marrow transplant centres across India, including at Sarvodaya Hospital, Batra Hospital, and Action Balaji Hospital, with the aim of making life-saving treatments accessible and affordable.
• He continues to work with government initiatives to promote an Anaemia-Free and Thalassemia-Free India.
• In 2018, he personally screened over 500 children in Haryana schools as part of his campaign for community haematology.
• Dr. Bhargava also leads the awareness initiative “Say No to Whole Blood”, promoting the use of safe and effective blood components.
• Internationally, Dr. Bhargava has helped develop haematology care in Uzbekistan, Iraq, Uganda, and Rwanda.
