About Dr. Giriraj Bora

• Dr. Giriraj Singh Bora stands among India’s most respected names in liver transplantation and hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, with an illustrious career spanning over two decades.
• After completing his MBBS (2000) and MS in General Surgery (2003) from JLN Medical College, Ajmer, he pursued MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology/HPB Surgery from G.B. Pant Hospital, Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University in 2009.
• He further refined his expertise with a fellowship in Liver Transplantation at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in 2012.
• His early professional journey included a tenure as Senior Resident in GI Surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, where he gained exposure to complex gastrointestinal surgeries.
• Later, as a Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals (2012–2015), Dr. Bora contributed significantly to the liver transplant program.
• He went on to serve as Chief at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jaipur (2015–2016), before joining Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, in 2016, where he spearheaded the development of a world-class liver transplant and HPB unit.
• Under his leadership, Artemis Hospital’s Department of Minimal Access HPB Surgery & Liver Transplant became the only liver unit in India performing pure laparoscopic and pure robotic liver donor surgeries.
• His team has successfully managed transplants for infants and complex graft procedures such as right posterior and mono-segment liver grafts, a feat achieved by only a handful of liver centers globally.
• With over 2,000 liver transplants performed, including living donor and deceased donor procedures, Dr. Bora has been instrumental in transforming liver transplantation in Rajasthan, performing the state’s first-ever liver transplant as well as the first living donor and deceased donor liver transplants.
• His department also offers advanced treatments such as TIPS, TARE, TACE, angiographic embolisation, and other complex interventional procedures for benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile duct.
• Dr. Bora has been an invited speaker at prestigious international forums, including the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) meetings in San Francisco (2012) and Sydney (2013).
• His work has earned him several accolades, including recognition from the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. His pioneering approach, combined with dedication to patient care, continues to attract patients from over 20 countries.
