About Dr. E Ravindra Mohan

• Dr. E. Ravindra Mohan is one of India’s most respected ophthalmologists, best known for his specialization in oculoplastic, orbital surgery, and advanced lacrimal and cosmetic eyelid procedures.
• An alumnus of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, he completed both his MBBS and residency in Ophthalmology from Dr. R. P. Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences, where he also served as Senior Resident in Oculoplastic, Orbital Surgery & Pediatric Ophthalmology for three years.
• During his student years, he held several leadership roles, including Vice President and later President of the Students’ Union at AIIMS, reflecting his strong academic excellence and organizational abilities.
• Dr. Mohan completed his Fellowship exam (FRCS – Ophthalmology) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998 and has since established a prominent career in both clinical and academic ophthalmology.
• He served as Consultant at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, and later headed the Department of Oculoplastic & Orbital Surgery, eventually becoming Director of the department.
• He has also been a Visiting Professor at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute.
• With unparalleled surgical expertise, Dr. Mohan has managed thousands of cases involving ptosis correction, orbital tumors, thyroid eye disease, lacrimal surgeries (including minimally invasive techniques), cosmetic rehabilitation of the anophthalmic socket, and treatment of facial spasms such as blepharospasm.
• He is the Founder of Trinethra Eye Clinic in Chennai, where he continues to offer state-of-the-art oculoplastic care.
• Dr. Mohan has delivered over 100 invited lectures and scientific presentations across the world, including forums such as the International Congress of Ophthalmology and ESOPRS meetings.
• He has been an active contributor to major ophthalmology textbooks and has more than 25 publications in top-tier journals, including the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, Orbit, and Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
• In addition to being a reviewer for leading international journals, he has also been appointed as an International Judge for the Pfizer Research Prize Awards (Singapore).
• His work with ISRO’s Telemedicine Program enabled expert ophthalmic care to reach remote corners of India.
• Dr. Mohan’s academic contributions include mentoring postgraduate trainees, guiding fellowship programs in oculoplasty, and organizing several national and international ophthalmology conferences.
