• Dr. Anil Kumar B T is one of Karnataka’s foremost nephrologists and kidney transplant surgeons, widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to renal transplantation and clinical nephrology.
• Throughout his accomplished career, he has carried out a significant number of kidney transplants, setting records for the most deceased donor kidney transplants at a single quaternary care center and the highest number of ABO-incompatible and paired-exchange transplants at one institution in Karnataka.
• He began his medical journey at the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, where he obtained his MBBS degree in 1996.
• Dr. Anil went on to complete his MD in General Medicine, followed by a DNB in Nephrology at Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad, in 2006, gaining specialized expertise in managing complex renal disorders and transplant medicine.
• He served as a Consultant Nephrologist at Kamineni Hospitals, Hyderabad, where he refined his skills in dialysis therapies, renal biopsy, and post-transplant immunosuppressive management.
• He later joined St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Bangalore, as a Registrar, where he contributed to clinical training and patient care.
• Currently, Dr. Anil Kumar leads a high-volume transplant unit performing both living-related and deceased donor kidney transplants.
• His team has been instrumental in expanding access to transplantation through innovative paired-exchange programs and ABO-incompatible procedures.
