Dr. Vairakkani R is a highly accomplished nephrologist with extensive clinical experience in the management of kidney diseases.
In his clinical practice, he has developed proficiency in a wide range of nephrological procedures, including central venous catheterization, Permcath insertion, renal biopsy, CAPD catheter insertion, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and renal transplantation.
His areas of interest span acute kidney injury, preventive nephrology, glomerulonephritis, hemodialysis, and renal transplantation.
Dr. Vairakkani provides expert nephrology services to patients across multiple regions, including Aminjikarai, Ayapakkam, Guindy, Koyambedu, Maduravoyal, Mahalingapuram, and beyond.
He completed his MBBS from Madurai Medical College in 2008, followed by an MD in General Medicine from the same institution.
His passion for nephrology led him to pursue a DM in Nephrology from Government Stanley Medical College and later a DrNB in Nephrology, equipping him with advanced expertise in both academic and practical aspects of the specialty.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Vairakkani is an active researcher with multiple publications in reputable journals, including the Indian Journal of Nephrology and the Brazilian Journal of Nephrology, which cover original research, reviews, and case reports.
His groundbreaking research on the frusemide stress test won him the Best Paper Award at the 50th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Nephrology in 2019.
In the same year, Dr. Vairakkani also won first prize in the Quiz Competition at the 39th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Nephrology (Southern Chapter). Earlier in his academic journey, he was awarded the 3rd SVIMS University Gold Medal for his essay on “Metabolome and Microbiome in Kidney Disease.”
Dr. Vairakkani is a dedicated member of the Indian Society of Nephrology, actively participating in academic and professional forums to advance nephrology practices in India.
