About Dr. Urmila Anandh

• Dr. Urmila Anandh is a highly respected nephrologist with more than 25 years of extensive clinical, academic, and research experience.
• Her expertise covers a broad spectrum of nephrology, including renal transplantation, pediatric nephrology, dialysis (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis), chronic kidney disease management, glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidney disease, and ICU nephrology.
• She has successfully performed numerous kidney transplants and is particularly known for her work in critical care nephrology and pediatric renal disorders.
• Dr. Anandh has built an exemplary career in nephrology through her association with some of the country’s top medical institutions and by successfully managing complex renal cases.
• She completed her MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), one of India’s premier medical colleges, in 1990.
• During her undergraduate years, she displayed exceptional academic excellence and was honored as the Best Outgoing Undergraduate of Madras University, along with receiving the President of India Gold Medal for Best Lady Intern.
• Dr. Anandh went on to pursue her MD in General Medicine at AIIMS, New Delhi, followed by DNB in General Medicine, and then further specialized with DM and DNB in Nephrology.
• Over her illustrious career, she has held key leadership positions, including Senior Consultant and Head of Nephrology at Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, Consultant Nephrologist at Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore, and Associate Professor and Head at St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Bangalore.
• Her professional journey also includes significant contributions at Narayana Health City and Manipal Hospitals.
• Dr. Anandh has received multiple Young Investigator Awards from the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis at global conferences held in Seoul, Montreal, and Amsterdam.
• She was also honored with the Distinguished Fellows Award at the World Congress of Nephrology, Singapore (2005).
• Dr. Anandh has a strong research background with multiple publications in reputed journals. Her studies have focused on transplantation outcomes, dialysis innovations, and novel approaches to managing kidney disorders.
• She has contributed to landmark research, including the use of GM-CSF as an adjuvant to hepatitis B vaccination in hemodialysis patients and long-term outcomes in live-unrelated renal transplantation.
