About Dr. Sameer Bhate

• Dr. Sameer Bhate is an accomplished Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in advanced cardiac surgery.
• His surgical expertise includes valve replacements, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), open-heart surgeries, and surgery for aortic aneurysms, as well as heart and lung transplantation, ventricular assist devices (VAD), and ECMO support.
• He has performed over 4,000 cardiac surgeries, ranging from routine procedures to highly complex cases.
• Dr. Bhate completed his MBBS from Pune University, followed by a DNB in General Surgery. He went on to pursue an MCh in Cardiothoracic Surgery from BJMC, Pune, along with a DNB in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• He then refined his skills through an impressive series of international fellowships in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, heart-lung transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support at leading institutions including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Westmead Children’s Hospital Sydney, Prince of Wales & Sydney Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital (Australia), and Fremantle Hospital, Perth.
• Throughout his career, Dr. Bhate has held leadership roles and has been instrumental in establishing three cardiac centers in North India and two heart and lung transplant programs in South India.
• Dr. Bhate actively works toward reducing the cost of cardiac surgery by encouraging indigenous innovation and ensuring affordability for economically challenged patients, while maintaining global standards of safety with single-use policies for consumables.
• In addition to his surgical career, Dr. Bhate has a strong interest in research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, particularly through the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (IACTS).
