About Dr. S Radhakrishnan

• Dr. S. Radhakrishnan is a renowned Paediatric Cardiologist with more than 40 years of distinguished experience in the field of cardiology.
• He has pioneered interventional cardiology in India, performing the first Balloon Dilation of the Atrial Septum and the first Mitral Balloon Valvuloplasty at AIIMS, New Delhi.
• He is also credited as the first in India to describe Coil Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a technique now widely used across the country.
• Over the course of his career, Dr. Radhakrishnan has performed more than 3,000 cardiac catheterizations and 5,000 echocardiographic procedures, setting benchmarks in paediatric and adult cardiac care.
• A graduate of the University of Delhi (MBBS, 1980; MD in General Medicine, 1984; DM in Cardiology, 1986), Dr. Radhakrishnan honed his skills through extensive training at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, Mayo Clinic (USA), and Guy’s Hospital (London, UK).
• Dr. Radhakrishnan has authored and co-authored over 200 articles and abstracts in leading national and international journals.
• He has also been instrumental in creating educational CDs on echocardiography and congenital heart diseases, which are widely circulated across India.
• Since 1995, Dr. Radhakrishnan has actively conducted workshops and training programs on echocardiography and paediatric interventions in India as well as in countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
