• Dr. V R Roopesh Kumar is a highly skilled Neurosurgeon renowned for his expertise in managing complex brain and spine conditions.
• With over 29 years of experience, he has performed advanced surgical procedures, including skull base surgeries (both microscopic and endoscopic) for meningioma, schwannoma, craniopharyngioma, hypothalamic and brainstem gliomas, and cerebrovascular procedures such as aneurysm repair, AVM management, carotid endarterectomy, and vascular bypass.
• He also specializes in minimally invasive cranial and spinal surgery.
• Dr. Roopesh completed his MBBS from Dr. MGR Medical University in 1996, followed by an MS in General Surgery from Madurai Medical College, Dr. MGR Medical University in 2001, and an MCh in Neurosurgery from NIMHANS, Bangalore, India in 2004.
• He has been affiliated with premier institutions like NIMHANS and JIPMER, where he established the Department of Neurosurgery, including fully equipped Neurosurgery and Neurotrauma ICUs for complex surgical care.
• He has published over 52 journal articles, contributed to leading textbooks, and serves as a reviewer for several national and international journals.
• He is an invited speaker at national and international conferences and has organized multiple surgical workshops, cadaver labs, and CMEs. Notably, he performed the first pediatric awake craniotomy in India.
• Dr. Roopesh has held several leadership positions, including founder secretary of the Society for Intraoperative Neurophysiology, secretary of the Skullbase Surgery Society of India, chairman of the Young Neurosurgeons Forum of India, and executive committee member of the Neuroendoscopy Society of India and Neuro-Oncology Society of India.
